About Us
Nottinghamshire Unemployed Workers Centre is an independent
Voluntary Organisation based in Mansfield which has been
providing a free Welfare Rights and Money Advice Service to
people living or working in Nottinghamshire for over 10 years.
The organisation was formed originally by the Trade Union
Movement in Mansfield to deal with the social and economic
consequences of the closure of collieries in the Nottinghamshire
and surrounding coalfields. Since then the organisation has
developed into a registered Charity and a Company Limited by
Guarantee operating from premises close to Mansfield Town Centre.
Our Trustees, who are also Directors of the Company are drawn
from a range of statutory and voluntary organisations operating
in the local community.
We currently employ 8 staff and have

volunteers who are are able to help clients with:

Welfare
benefits (eg Job Seekers Allowancet) from help with completing forms to representation at Tribunals;

Money
advice - from general information on how to handle debt to
representation at County Court and above if necessary;

Making contact with other specialist voluntary and
statutory organisations offering support and advice to
people in financial difficulty
Nottinghamshire Unemployed Workers Centre is supported by: The
Legal Services Commission, Nottinghamshire County Council, Mansfield
District Council and the Severn Trent Trust Fund.
